EVALUATION QUESTION 4: WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

Mighty Beat is targeted at a local and international audience; however it is mainly focussed on the British and American civilisations but also targeted to everyone and not specifically. I decided to mainly target people from 16 to 26 years of age because the magazine can be read by the younger audiences for its reviews, interviews and concerts and gossips but also be suitable for older people for its technical information – especially those who work in the music industry. My product also targets those who inhabit in the UK and America, as both countries are popular in the music industry; and popular fashion which also originates from both of these countries. Ethnically, the magazine also tries to target all races equally. Also the magazine equally targets males and females as well as all religions because anyone can have an interest in music.

However, music genre such as Hip Hop and Rap are stereotypically associated with black backgrounds, therefore I decided my product to have a wide range of music genres. Therefore the magazine has become more appealing to all cultures.

Referring back to my previous audience research task, I constructed a mood board featuring a wide range of subjects my target audience would be interested in:



As you can see, my targeted audience are in to music technology such as headphones (brands such as Skullcandy, Beats by Dre.), music fashion (brands such as Bape G-Shock watches), music players (brands such as Apple iPod) other technologies such as gaming consoles (such as the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3), and portable technologies (for example Blackberry and iPhone smart phones), Etc. My target audience would also be very involved in social networking sites such a Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to allow them to communicate and share with their friends.
